High on style, not heels

In today's active rhythm of life what can be more comfortable and useful than shoes without heels? Many fashionistas think that such shoes might make their legs look shorter and that their total look will appear less elegant and feminine. Well, I'm here to refute this assertion and give some cool tips on how to wear flat shoes in style! There is a huge variety of flat shoes: sneakers and ballet flats, all kinds of oxfords and loafers, espadrilles, etc...

Let's start!

Ballet Shoes

In the middle of the 20th century, such style icons as Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot made ballet shoes very popular among fashionistas. Their popularity is hasn't faded until today, and there are lots of different styles for this multifunctional and comfortable footwear. Some are soft fabric slippers with a flat sole, others are more like classic pumps on small heels.

There is one basic rule: the clearer the shape and the narrower the nose, the more elegant look can be created with ballet shoes.

The most popular color is beige, that visually lengthens and slims the leg. Ballet flats can be combined with skirts and dresses of any length, shorts, skinny pants, cropped jeans.

Summer Shoes Without Heels

Such shoes are an indispensable attribute of hot season.

The main rule: the richer the decor of your sandals, the more concise your clothes should be.

Sandals with unusual decorations, fringed or "gladiators" are well combined with simple T-shirts, denim shorts, with a simple dress without bright and contrasting prints, with straight or flared skirt.

Espadrilles

Lightweight summer shoes made of natural materials on a woven (harness) sole.

Espadrilles have a long history - they were invented in the 13th century on the Iberian Peninsula in Spain. Worn both by men and women without socks. Espadrilles are combined perfectly with clothes made of natural fabrics, denim, trousers and shorts, dresses and skirts.

Moccasins

Historically moccasins were shoes of North American Indians. Modern moccasins are comfortable soft slippers made of suede or soft leather.

Usually worn on bare feet. Moccasins are very light, comfortable and bright shoes, ideal for casual outfits.

What to wear moccasins with? Jeans, pants, shorts, dresses, skirts ... Are excellently combined with denim, stripe, ethnic motives, relaxed silhouettes and soft forms.

Loafers

Loafers appeared in Norway in the 1930s and were originally men's shoes, one-colored, made of leather and with wide sole. Nowadays loafers are an indispensable item in modern women's wardrobe.

If you are not a fan of high heels, but still want to look feminine and stylish, loafers are your choice! This type of shoes can replace high heels in 90% of cases.

Loafers can be worn with anything and anywhere: with coats, dresses, skirts, trousers and jeans!

Slippers

Once home slippers of British aristocrats made of velvet with silk lining and embroidery and gold threads, are nowadays women's and men's shoes on a flat course (sometimes with a small wide heel), made of different materials. Velvet or fabric, suede or leather, with embroidery and tassels, sequins and spikes - everyone can find the perfect pair! Neutral colors are suitable for any look.

Mules

For the last few seasons mules with no heels have won the hearts of fashionistas all over the world.

Mules look like loafers without back part and can still be combined with anything.

Оxfords, Derbies, Brogues, Monks

All these are different types of shoes with lacing or buckle. Brogues - lace-up shoes with perforation. Oxfords - shoes with a "closed" lacing. Derbies have “open“ lacing, and monks - single or double buckle.

How to wear?

First: such shoes perfectly match with pants / leggings / shorts/ dresses/ skirts.
Second: you can create very stylish looks combining men style shoes with light floral print dresses.
Third: short skirts, sun hats and glasses are more than appropriate.
Four: long skirts and dresses also combine perfectly with such kind of shoes.

Sneakers

Comfort rules the world of fashion. Such an unusual style combination as dress+sneakers/skirt+sneakers/suit+sneakers has become almost classical. Sneakers can be worn with pants, leggings and overalls, shirt dresses, long dresses of boho or romantic style, skirts and even tutus.

Here are the main rules how to combine sneakers with different styles:

Do not know how to start wearing dresses with sneakers? Start with neutral colors. White, black, gray or beige sneakers will fit almost any dress or skirt and will not attract much attention.
Repeat the color: let the color of your sneakers repeat one of the colors of your clothing or accessories. One more tip: brighten the monochrome look with bright colored sneakers.

Slip-ons

Sneakers without lacing were created in the late 70s as lightweight surfing shoes. Slip-ons allow you to create a lot of different stylish looks: with dresses and skirts, trousers and leggings etc.. Slip-ons monochrome or printed, from fabric or leather - the choice is yours!

So, as you can see, it is not so difficult to look stylish and feminine without high heels!

You have many options to choose from! Don’t be afraid to try and experiment!
