Spring is in the air! Blooming flowers with an incredible aroma create a perfect mood for a perfect season. What could be better?! One thing for sure: a girl with the floral look! As you may have guessed, this story will be about a hit trend of the season- the floral print.
The creation of this fashion tendency dates back to the early history when only rich aristocratic women could afford flowers on their dresses, as it was embroidered on very expensive fabrics. By the end of 18th Century, the secret of Indian chintz was revealed, which led to serious price reductions on all floral prints. As a result of the Industrial Revolution of 19th Century, the production of such fabrics increased drastically, while chintz was used for cheap dresses. Later in the history of floral print comes a new era of Orientalism. Cherry blossom, peonies and Chinese vase ornaments became the most popular print of the period. The next production boom was in 1950s. It remained popular in the following decades and up until today. So what is the right way of combining and wearing floral prints?
Some of my recommendations: 1. Don’t use more than one floral print in a single look 2. If you decide to wear trousers/skirt/blouse/top with the floral print, then it is better to choose calm and pastel colors for the rest of the outfit. 3. If you wear a floral dress, choose monochromatic accessories. 4. And vice versa: color accessories for a monochromatic outfit. 5. When wearing floral clothes, do not over do your make up.
